Smooth and Flat

Well, since I’m not an expert at all – I only got both SWR and Hisoutensoku back a week or two ago – I totally fail at understanding the game mechanics. I mean, the advanced stuff like weather, wrongblocking, guard crushing, spirit orbs, etc.

But I find it really strange that I could get through the entire Arcade mode on Lunatic difficulty.

Something is wrong with the AI, I presume. I could easily break any spell card used by the AI; and only three times my spell cards didn’t connect. However I lack experience and combo knowledge, and a real – human – player can beat me in – probably – less than 30 seconds into the game (I mean getting the KO).

I need stronger AI to play against and learn as it’s really, really hard to find people to play online against.

It’s the second day of C76 and we’ve got three – just think about it, three! – new games.

• TH12, 東方星蓮船〜 Undefined Fantastic Object
• TH12.3, 東方非想天則〜 超弩級ギニョルの謎を追え (Unthinkable Natural Law: Chase the Enigma of the Superdreadnought Guignol)
• 紅魔城伝説 スカーレット・シンフォニー (Legend of the Crimson Devil Castle: Scarlet Symphony)

The first one is the official 12th (pun not intended) game in the series, by Team Shanghai Alice. And Sanae is a playable character now! (Yes, I’m a fan of Sanae. Not as much as of Remilia or Ran, though.)

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody’s expansion, Touhou Unthinkable Natural Law, also features Sanae as a playable character (along with Cirno the Strongest) and is produced by Tasogare Frontier in association with Team Shanghai Alice. It’s a fighting game, just as SWR was.

Finally, Scarlet Symphony is, basically, Castlevania with Reimu as the main character.

I’m kind of busy playing the games now…

So my Toradora Portable! Choudoukyuu Premium Box finally arrived. Aside from the UMD with the game and the little booklet which describes how to play, there were some goods inside (well it’s a Premium box so why not). Alas, I can’t yet play the game because it needs a console with the firmware version of 5.05 and my PSP is running 5.00 at the moment.

The goods include:

• PSP bag, tiger shaped;
• strap;
• Special DVD;
• Fun Book;
• PSP Stand;
• Taiga nendoroid, swimsuit version.

The bag is totally awesome and cute and I don’t know how to express it.

So, my gadget collection has been updated with this new piece of the so-called gaming equipment. I still need to purchase some more things for it, though.

Behold.

And I need to get:

• Acekard 2i or something similar;
• A screen protection kit;
• Subarashiki Kono Sekai;
• An SD card.

I’ll just leave it here, ok?

Yesterday I’ve installed X-Blades, which is a generic 3rd person action game thing. The attack button is the left mouse button, as always.

And as a result, my mouse which has served me for almost four years seems to be on the verge of death. It’s a Logitech Cordless Click! Plus optical mouse with an external recharger-receiver; it has all the buttons I need and is pretty nice overall.

Looking at the new models, I wonder why it’s so hard to find something like this Click! Plus. I’m pretty sure I don’t want a Microsoft model because of their scrollwheel’s distinctive characteristics (seamless scrolling) – I like Logitech’s approach more. So currently I’m looking at MX1100R which is quite… expensive.

As for my laptop which came with an OEM ASUS-branded laptop USB mouse (made by Logitech, too; it doesn’t have back/forward buttons whatsoever), I guess want a VX Revolution – however the size of the receiver makes me a sad Taiga. I want that Nano series micro receiver – but all Nano mice lack the scrollwheel’s middle click ability which is critical to me.

A quick update: I’m currently totally absorbed in Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness. Therefore I almost stopped watching anime (save for ongoing series) and even postponed StrikerS until further notice (probably until February 1st).

So I’ve transmigrated a whole bunch of my characters when they reached level 50 or so; I’ve got most of them to 50 back again today but there’s this thief, Cirno… she’s an extremely slow learner and still didn’t even get to level 40. And with the best sword out there she still can’t instantly kill a 3×3 pack of monsters with Winged Slayer (the damage is around 400-450 for each hit while Konata did 700+ or so back when she was 30 – and that’s using a not-so-cool sword).

On the other hand, I’ve got Etna who denies to level up quickly as well – she keeps whining about how hard it is to properly use Asteroid Drop. But doesn’t Kuro have the same problem with her Lion’s Roar skill?.. And she’s at level 50 right now.

Got the new Toradora! opening and ending singles – Silky Heart and Orange. At first I didn’t like Silky Heart – as I found it to have too much beats. But after listening to it for some time I realised it’s pretty nice too. The official PV sucks, though. The ending theme, Orange, is alright; but overall, of all the songs in Toradora! up to now I prefer Pre-Parade.

So, I’m challenging the Tuned Series again, and once again I’m stuck with the event where you have to takedown that Tuned Muscle three times to unlock it – three times in a 2-lap race where it takes almost a whole lap to catch up to that car…

Seriously, what a hassle.

So I left my PSP on the desk for just a minute… and a local idiot overwrote my Burnout Dominator save. Accidentally. I had ~7500 Dominator points, with all series except Race Specials and Dominator Series completed (13/13 events, 13/13 gold medals, 5/5 cars unlocked). I have zero points now.

Who would have thought that Ryuuji is a pervert?.. But I must admit, this episode was kind of epic. I guess I’ll get to work on userpics based on it tomorrow.

In other news: I’ve watched the first episode of Casshern Sins. The series is kind of… strange. But the characters somehow have really pretty designs, except for those robots, of course. I’ll check the next two or three episodes to decide if to drop the series or not. I don’t like the ‘main character’ guy though.

Been also playing Burnout Dominator and got to over 7000 Dominator points – I still have to beat the Tuned Series Grand Prix though since I only have scored a Silver Medal in it before. And I don’t really understand why can’t I use the unlocked Dominator car during Grand Prix… and where can I use it at all. After getting the Gold in that event I’ll try the next available series, I guess.

Also, I’ve got my (new) Kara no Kyoukai novels, will probably start reading those the next week; the three movies I watched were pretty impressive, too (well, TYPE MOON it is).
